This was an international study over a 24mth duration in 125 sites in approximately 25 countries worldwide. University Hospital Waterford Eye department was one of two Irish sites involved. This study was a Phase IIIb, randomized, double-masked multicenter study assessing the efficacy and safety of two treatment regimens in patients with wet Age Related Macular Degeneration (ARMD).
Luminous Study

This was an worldwide, observational study looking at the effectiveness and safety of treatment for wet ARMD. The purpose of the study was to assess how well patients tolerated ranibizumab (Lucentis) how well it worked in practice, how often patients needed to receive treatment and its effects on a patients quality of life. University Hospital Waterford was one of 4 Irish sites involved in the Luminous study.
